Community Initiatives

Public Legal Education

We often give public legal education seminars in an effort to raise the general level of legal awareness in the community. We can also arrange seminars for other community organizations, giving them legal tools to assist their clients.

We are also available as speakers for community groups and schools. We provide information on a number of legal topics and on the role of legal clinics in Ontario.

We will tailor a program specifically to your needs, whether it is merely for information purposes or whether it is a staff training or workshop. We offer these sessions free of charge.  Please contact us  if you would like a member of the Clinic staff to address your group.

Community Development Work

We work with individuals, groups and agencies on legally-related issues of importance to Ottawa’s low income communities.

Law Reform Work

We can assist when changes to laws are proposed that can significantly affect Ottawa’s low income residents. We work closely with other community-based organizations.
